It was another fantastic class for ’13 US World Championships Head Coach Mike Holloway.  It was small and high quality for the men and ranked #2 by Track and Field News.  In addition to US HS #1 Andres Arroyo (1:47.70) they recruited #1 Shot Puter Nick Ponzio (69-7 1/4 Shot and 187-8 Discus).

As usual they coaxed some of the top sprinters in Nick Uruburu (46.58), Jamaican high hurdler Yanick Hart (13.52), and a 2x all-American while at Houston his freshman year transfer and’12 World Junior champion Eric Futch (50.24 400 Hurdles).  Sprinter (23.51)/ hurdler (12.71) redshirt sophomore Bridgette Owens transferred from Clemson to lead the incoming group for the women.  Three top athletes returned from injuries (or other reasons) that forced them to miss the 2013 outdoor season.  Junior Brittany Harrell in the multis (5838), Sophomores indoors and freshmen outdoors sprinters Kyra Jefferson (11.72/23.43) and Shayla Sanders (11.32/23.44) will make immediate impacts along with sprint/hurdle recruit Skylar Ross-Ransom (11.69w/13.59)

It was a small cross country class but  Taylor Tubbs (37th at SEC and 33rd at South Region) was the #3 or #4 runner all season.  Carlos Miranda was either #4 or #5 all season long and was 29th at the SEC meet.  Mac Reynolds ran for Florida in all of their races and was anywhere from #6 to #8 for the team and at the NCAA meet he was the Gator’s #6 runner.  Amber Johnson was the Gator’s #7 runner at the SEC Meet.  Sarah Day (14th at Western Carolina) and Bryce Seymour (5th at WC) had some races. Jake Manestiosis was their other long distance recruit and he redshirted and 2013 #1 US high school 800 meter runner, Andres Arroyo, and Alabama state 800 champ Donnie Lee Jr. redshirted.

Most of the freshmen will probably compete at the UAB Classic and start their seasons will many of the top southern schools including Florida State, LSU, Jonathan C Smith and Academy of Art (both top DII schools).
