Jade Zaharoff Honored for Cross Country Achievements

Following the most successful season of her career, senior cross country runner Jade Zaharoff was honored during halftime of Wednesday night's basketball doubleheader. Zaharoff became just the fifth women's cross country runner to represent Christopher Newport at the NCAA National Cross Country Championships. She placed in the top 10 in three of her six races leading up to the National Meet, including a victory in the season-opener. At the USA South Conference Championships, Zaharoff placed second and helped the Captains recapture the Conference Championship; it was the team's 16th title in the last 18 years. Zaharoff went on to place 18th at the Regional Meet, earning All-Region honors and a trip to the National Meet. On top of all that, Jade has qualified for the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association All-Academic Team for the second consecutive year. Zaharoff ran a personal best 23:11.55 in the 6k at the National Championship meet to put her eighth on CNU's all-time list. Read the full article at: cnusports.com
