D1 Highlights - Weekend Ending 2/21/15

Individual Marks in the Top 16 and Relay Marks in the Top 12 at the end of the D1 indoor season earn an invitation from the NCAA.  If athletes decline those invitations, the next individuals or relay teams on the list will be offered an invitation to the NCAA Indoor Championships held March 13th and 14th.  

The marks listed below are season bests in the top 16 or 12 (for relays) or other significant marks (Barber cleared 19-0 in the pole vault again):

 

Wisconsin's Michael Lihrman improves D1 Collegiate Record in the Weight Throw to 81-8 3/4 and teammate Malachy Schrobilgen runs 7:54.78 for 3000m at Red & White Open

Penn State Tune-Up Featured #9 all-time collegiate performance by Brannon Kidder in the 600m, 1:16.98. Georgetown's Ryan Manahan wins 800m in 1:47.34 ahead of teammates Joseph White (1:48.05) and Billy Ledder (1:48.20).  Sabrina Southerland wins the women's race in 2:03.89 ahead of teammate Becca Deloacha in 2:04.86 and Piper Donaghu in 2:05.25. 

Arkansas men run 9:28.37 over the 4000m Distance Medley Relay as 3 men's teams break 9:30 and Baylor women run 10:58.52 as 4 women's teams crack 11:03.3. Alethia Marrero of Indiana State runs 2:04.73 ahead of Cecilia Barowski of Princeton in 2:05.00.  Over 400m Michael Cherry of Penn State wins in 46.31 and Brianna Tate from Arizona State wins in 52.87.  In the 3000m Rachel Johnson from Baylor runs 9:07.09.  William Taylor of Arizona State wins the 60m Hurdles in 7.80 and Jade Barber wins the women's race in 8.22.  FSU women run 3:35.26 for the 4x400m Relay at Alex Wilson Invitation

Arkansas Open    Arkansas' Sandi Morris beats CR-holder SF Austin's Demi Payne 15-0 3/4 to 14-8 3/4, Texas Tech's Keniel Grant jumps 25-9 1/2, Arkansas' Marqueze Washington wins 400 in 46.49,  Ncincilli Titi of South Carolina wins 200 in 20.87, TCU men win 4x400m Relay in 3:06.05 over Texas Tech men in 3:07.00

Rice's Chris Pillow vaults pr 18-2 3/4  and Maslowski jumps 20-9 1/4 at Virginia Tech Indoor Challenge 

Richartz vaults 14-4 3/4 at Illinois O&B

Young throws 70-10 1/2, Moore wins in 7.84 and Fortenberry runs 8.24, and Williams jumps 52-4 1/2 at LSU Indoor Twilight

Nebraska Indoor Twilight

Bitchell runs converted 7:53.27 at Northern Arizona Tune-Up

Missouri's Kristen Peoples throws CL 74-11 1/4 in the weight throw and a season best 54-7 1/2 for the Shot Put at Missouri Collegiate Challenge

Chris Caldwell runs an adjusted 7.73 over 60m Hurdles at Red Raider Open

Akron's Clayton Murphy runs 1:47.82 over 800m and teammate Shawn Barber clears 19-0 1/4 in the Pole Vault, and teammates Alexis Cooks throws 53-9 3/4 in the Shot Put and 70-8 in the Weight Throw and Claire Lucas vaults 13-9 3/4 at Akron Zips Invitational

Christian Soratos of Montana State runs converted 800m 1:47.64 ahead of teammate Matthew Tex in 1:48.56 at Bobcat Open

Rice's Chris Pillow vaults pr 18-2 3/4  and Maslowski jumps 20-9 1/4 at Virginia Tech Indoor Challenge 

Richartz vaults 14-4 3/4 at Illinois O&B

Virginia Tech runs 9:36.56 ahead of Duke in 9:37.01 converted to 9:28.84 and 9:29.28, NC State beats Duke 11:11.23 to 11:15.83 which convert to 11:04.12 and 11:08.67 at UCS Invitational
