ARLINGTON, Texas - Clayton Vaughn has been named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association's Division I Male National Athlete of the Week, the USTFCCCA announced on Tuesday. Vaughn is the first-ever recipient from UT Arlington.
"This award puts an exclamation point on an outstanding performance at the conference meet," UTA coach John Sauerhage said. "It's a really nice honor and he deserves this kind of recognition. However, I know that Clayton's eyes are on the NCAA Championships and we are excited to see him run again."
Clayton VauThe senior sprinter ran one of the fastest wind-legal men's 100-meter dashes in NCAA history, getting off to a very quick start and torching the field at the Sun Belt Championships in 9.93 seconds.
