[Men's Track & Field] Johnson, Jimmie Men Solid in FargoPublished by
The Jimmies ran into some serious competition Saturday, but still managed to hold their own. Ed Crawford's JC men's team notched five top 5 finishes against primarily NCAA Division I and II competition at the Bison Open in Fargo. The Jimmies were led by senior Jarann Johnson, who continued his sparkling season with a second-place finish in the 400. He posted the mark despite not even running in the fastest heat, but still ran a huge lifetime best of 50.74 seconds. "Jarann ran a phenomenal race for us. Really, he had a great, great day and has been very consistent all indoor season," Crawford said of the Redding, Calif., native. "He's doing some amazing things for us as a senior." Johnson also ran a split of 49.45 as the Jimmies' 4x4 relay team had another strong race. Johnson, Trent Roemmich, Nathan Christensen, and Brent Jansen finished third to only NDSU and UND, and they nearly edged North Dakota, 3:24.10 to 3:24.36. "Those guys did a really nice job," Crawford said. All four of them also had solid individual performances. It was par for the course for Roemmich, who was fifth in the 60 hurdles behind two NDSU runners, one from Northern State and one from Dickinson State. Roemmich is just .10 off qualifying for nationals. Read the full article at: www.JimmieAthletics.com
