Baker Finishes 14th at Mid-States

WINFIELD, Kan. The No. 25 ranked Baker University women's cross country team took third-place on Saturday out of 29 teams at the NAIA Mid-States Classic hosted by Southwestern College.

The Wildcats were led again by senior runner Lauren Jaqua who broke her own 5K Baker school record time with a mark of 17:57, good for fifth-place.

Baker tied for third-place with Doane College and had three players finish in the Top 30 including Jaqua, Megan Rosa who took 10th and Kerry Kurta finished 28th in a time of 18:45.

The Baker men's team took home 14th out of 25 teams and Vincent Tadokoro had the best finish of any Wildcat with his 48th place finish time of 26:31.

Corey Matteson had the next best finish of any Baker runner with his 75th place finish time of 27:16.

Baker will next prepare for the HAAC Championship meet in Marshall, Mo., hosted by Missouri Valley on Saturday, Nov. 9. The winner of each meet will compete in the NAIA National Championship meet in Lawrence, Kan., on Nov. 23.
