WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Boilermakers swept the Hoosiers in the Purdue & Indiana Dual on Saturday afternoon inside Lambert Fieldhouse. It was the first win for the Boilermakers on either side since the rivalry dual was renewed in 2010.

"We are happy with today's performance," Purdue head coach Lonnie Greene said after the meet. "Anytime you win and it's against an instate rival and a great program like IU, a program that we haven't beaten in a long time, it's a good thing. We competed well. I challenged our team to defend our house. We didn't want anyone, regardless of who it is, to come in and push us around. This was our first test to stand up and see how we compete in the Big Ten. Next week we travel to IU to do it again. We want to put up some national times and marks to build for the championships at the end of the year."

The Purdue women topped the Hoosiers 72 to 64 in the dual that was scored 5-3-1 (5-0 in relays). The entire meet came down to the 4x800m relay as the Boilermakers led 67-64. Kari Shoolbraid led off and gave Purdue a huge lead at the first exchange. Megan Plenus andKatie Hoevet ran solid legs before BreAnna Smith brought home the win for the Boilermakers.
