Following a stellar start to the 2013 indoor season two weeks ago at the UAB Blazer Invitational Jan. 10-11, the Gators will swing back into action Jan. 24-25 at the ultra-competitive Rod McCravy Memorial, hosted this weekend by the University of Kentucky at Nutter Field House. Tabbed USTFCCCA’s Division I National Meet of the Week, the Gators will be among an elite contingent of programs competing in Lexington.
Of the 14 teams participating at this weekend’s invitational, six are ranked inside the national top-25 (both men’s and women’s) including No. 3 Oregon men, No. 4 and defending NCAA Indoor Champion Oregon women, defending NCAA Outdoor Co-Champion and 2013 NCAA Indoor runner-up and No. 2 Florida men, No. 3 Florida women and No. 24 Alabama women, in addition to the No. 6 UK women’s team. Missouri, Tennessee, Virginia, Ohio State, Baylor, Miami (FL) and Illinois are also scheduled to compete.
Heading into the Rod McCravy Memorial, Gators Cory McGee (800m; 2:07.47) and Robin Reynolds (LJ; 6.38m/20-11.25) pace the Southeastern Conference in their respective events, while Reynolds is tops in the nation through the first portion of the indoor season in the long jump.
