[Women's Outdoor Track & Field] Lady Cards Open Season in Bowling Green, OHPublished by
(Saturday, March 26th, Bowling Green, OH) - On a cold, blustery spring day, that felt more like winter, the women's track and field team traveled to Bowling Green, Ohio for the first outdoor track meet of the season. Though the conditions were bad, the women performed well. Freshmen, Brittany Simmons won the long jump with a jump of 4.88. She also placed second in the triple jump with a jump of 9.58, tying the school record.
"Brittany is a very athletic jumper," said Coach Steve Montgomery. "She got off to a good start for us today in both of the jumping events," he added.
Also competing in the jumping events was junior, Adora Morrow. Morrow placed fourth in the long jump and third in the triple jump. The other Cardinal jumper for the day was freshmen Olivia Amend who competed in the high jump and placed second. "Overall, I'd say we have a strong field event contingent this year," said Coach Montgomery.
Also competing for the Lady Cards was freshmen, Molly Rathje. Rathje ran the 800 meter in a time of 2:55.4. "It was a tough day to be a runner," said Coach Montgomery. "It was super windy out there. Molly ran pretty good considering the wind today."
The Lady Cards will travel to Michigan State University next Saturday (April 2nd) to compete at the Spartan Invite. Read the full article at: www.concordiacardinals.com
