Cross Country: Ragin' Cajuns Finish 16th At South Central RegionalPublished by
COLLEGE STATION, Texas Sophomore Beau Robinson capped off an impressive season as he posted a time of 32 minutes, 01.5 seconds to help the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's cross country team to a 16th-place finish at the 2015 NCAA South Central Regional on Friday at the Dale Watts Course. Robinson, a first-team All-Sun Belt Conference performer, crossed the line in 59th place among 163 runners on the 10,000-meter course. The Ragin' Cajuns, who competed without all-conference performer Matt Rice, scored 435 points to finish ahead of Sam Houston State (456), Louisiana Tech (488), UT Rio Grande Valley (494), Houston Baptist (497), Tulane (545), ULM (585), New Orleans (697) and Southeastern Louisiana (697). "With everything this men's team has been through this year, our realistic expectations were to get into the top 15," head coach Lon Badeaux said. "We ended up just short of our goal, but I was proud of the effort and the way our guys competed." Corbett Ourso crossed the finish line in 32:39.9 to finish 85th overall for the Ragin' Cajuns with Sean Bezdek (32:47.6) finishing 92nd. Trey Bonin posted a time of 32:57.4 to finish 99th for Louisiana with Cole Stafford (33:23.0) finishing 115th and Bryce Robinson (33:30.7) placing 120th. "Some of our top guys struggled a bit showing lingering effects from the (Sun Belt) conference meet," Badeaux said. "But guys like Corbett Ourso and Sean Bezdek really stepped up with great races to pick up the slack." Arkansas claimed the team championship on the men's side scoring 51 points in the 24-team field. Texas (69) finished second overall followed by Texas A&M (85), Lamar (95) and Stephen F. Austin (139). Read the full article at: www.ragincajuns.com
