Final Results | Highlights
MANHATTAN, Kan. – In its final meet before the Big 12 Championships, the Kansas State track and field team saw 12 first-place finishes and 17 athletes record personal bests at the Steve Miller Open in Ahearn Field House on Friday. “It was a tune-up for some. We had a few kids coming off of injuries and we needed to see where they were at,” head coach Cliff Rovelto said. “Fortunately, we found out some good things. They performed pretty well tonight, which is encouraging heading into the conference meet. A lot of people did not compete tonight and that is mainly due to them needing to rest.”
The Wildcats saw a lot of Friday’s production out of the distance and mid-distance runners. Junior Kevin Jantsch set a new personal best in the 600 yard run with a time of 1:11.01 for a first-place finish, while freshman Javon Patterson finished second in the event with a personal best time of 1:12.61.
Freshman Chris Sandquist and sophomore Sam Oxandale recorded personal bests in the 800 meter run, finishing first and second in the event with times of 1:55.45 and 1:57.01, respectively. Jeff Bachman recorded a first-place finish in the mile run with a personal best time of 4:21:58.
In the 1000 meter run, Blake Goodin PRed with a mark of 2:27.90 to top his previous personal best of 2:29.72. Freshman Joe Gorthy notched a personal best in the 3000 meter run with a time of 8:59.57. Read the full article at: www.kstatesports.com
