[Men's Track & Field] Kamoni Qualifies for NAIA Nationals in 1000

Comments

It was a good day for Jamestown natives on Thursday at the Bemidji State Twilight Meet.

Spencer Kamoni, a 2010 JHS graduate, qualified for nationals in the 1,000-meter run.

"It was a good day for Jamestown kids," said JC coach Jim Clark.

Kamoni won the 1,000 against two of his teammates in Nathan Christensen and Kendall Witzen. Kamoni's time of 2:32.67 was nearly two seconds faster than Christensen's second-place time of 2:34.52.

Trent Roemmich and Scott Roemmich finished 1-2 in the 60 hurdles, while Jaraan Johnson and Brent Jansen finished first and second, respectively in the 400.

Matt Johnson, also a Jamestown native, won the triple jump and had a personal-best in the long jump.

"He had a really good day," said Clark of the freshman jumper.

The Jimmie 4x400 relay team also placed first, while Evan Schreiner and Kyle Heim also turned in second-place finishes for the Jimmies.
