[Women's Cross Country] Wallace Leads the Way for Saint Xavier at National Catholic Invite[Women's Outdoor Track & Field] Big Weekend For National Qualifiers For SXU Women s TrackPublished by
South Bend, Ind. – Senior Jordan Wallace (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way North) finished 17th overall in a field of 207 runners to pace the Saint Xavier University women's cross country team to a ninth-place team finish in the 26-team, non-Division I category of the 2013 National Catholic Cross Country Invitational hosted by University of Notre Dame (Ind.) Friday evening at the N.D. Golf Course in South Bend, Ind. Wallace clocked a time of 19:09.9 in the 5K (5,000 meters) race. Junior Leslie Rosario (Fort Myers, Fla./Neosho County CC/North Fort Myers) also had a top 30 individual finish for the Cougars Friday coming in at No. 27 overall in a time of 19:23.7. CHICAGO – With its team split up between the Gina Relays at Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Mich., and the Twilight Invite at Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill., the Saint Xavier University women's outdoor track team had a big weekend adding three more national qualifiers to its season total. Senior Rachael Dean (Lindenhurst, Ill./Judson University/Lakes) set a school record with an "A" standard qualifying time of 4:36.53 in the 1500 meter run at the Gina Relays Friday. In addition, the 4x800 meter relay team consisting of senior Jackie Ott (Island Lake, Ill./Marian Central Catholic), juniors Leslie Rosario (Fort Myers, Fla./Neosho County CC/Fort Myers North) and Anna Galvez (Glenview, Ill./Oakton CC/Maine East) as well as Dean won the event at the Gina Relays with a stellar time of 9:18.40, an "A" standard qualifying time as well. At the Twilight Invite, junior Jordan Wallace (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way North) earned a "B" standard qualifying time of 11:34.70 with a second-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
