[Track & Field] Coach Gideon Qualifies for BostonPublished by
When your coach is running right alongside you, it's a little tougher to slack off. That's the case for distance runners at Jamestown College. Assistant coach Andy Gideon not only looks younger than his age (45), he runs like a person half that old. Gideon, an assistant coach for the track and field and cross country teams — on top of his duties as the school's very effective sports information director — has run 18 full marathons and one 50-mile monster, which he was the Montana winner in the Open Division (18-39 age group) at the USATF 50 Mile Championship in 2007. Just recently, he qualified for the Boston Marathon for the sixth time, covering the 26.2 Missoula (Mont.) Marathon course in 3 hours, 24 minutes and 21 seconds.
