PRINCETON, N.J. (December 7, 2013) – Junior Corey Crawford (Oakland, N.J.) helped kick off the indoor track & field season by setting a new school record as he repeated as the long jump champion on Saturday to highlight Rutgers’ results at the New Year’s Invitational hosted by Princeton.

“The coaching staff thought we competed well,” said head coach Mike Mulqueen.  “The meet is used to shake off the cobwebs and start competing again.  We thought we did that and had many positives come out of today.”

Crawford’s jump of 7.79m is currently the number one long jump mark in the nation.  He bested the previous school record of 7.66m recorded by Marquis Allen at the Metropolitan Championships in 2003 and his previous high of 7.63m captured at the 2012 IC4A Championships.
