[Women's Indoor Track & Field] Records fall in SAU Women's Track & Field

Comments

MARION, IN – More records fell at the hands, and feet, of the Spring Arbor University Women's Track & Field team last weekend at the IWU Indoor Meet in Marion, IN.  Kelly Trip shattered her own short lived record in the Triple Jump and Vanessa Rogers continues to set the bar higher and higher in the Pole Vault.

In the ladies first time out last month, Tripp broke a 25 year old mark set by Dawn Faler (33' 3 ¼") in 1988 with a triple leap of 34' 1 ¼" and then on Friday night, Tripp crushed that with a 35' 7 ¾" performance to set the new standard in the Triple Jump.

Rogers has continued to believe that the sky is the limit as once again she tops her own mark (11' 3") in the Pole Vault that she just broke at Trine University on January 17.  On Friday evening at IWU, Rogers soared to new heights of 11' 5" and a new Spring Arbor University record in the vault.

Grace Sallie just missed breaking the record in the weight throw tossing the 20 pound weight 35' 5 19/32".  Sallie's toss is the second best in SAU history behind Kim Sturm (1998) and her toss of 36' 6 ¾".

One other mark in the books was in the Long Jump when Liz Brueggeman leaped 15' 8 ¾"  which put her in the tenth spot in the SAU record books.

Spring Arbor ladies return to Trine University, in Angola, IN on Friday, January 31 for the Zimmer Indoor.  Events start at 4:30 pm.
