[Women's Indoor Track & Field] Spilt squad in Women's Track & Field makes noise at ...Published by
The women's Track & Field team split squads over last weekend with some of the participants heading to Hillsdale College to run on the wide track at Hillsdale and some went to Indiana Wesleyan to compete against some familiar faces and Crossroads League schools. Freshman Amanda Luurtsema is making her mark quickly as a collegian setting a new school record in the 60m with a blazing time of 8.08 on the Hillsdale track. Unfortunately for Luurtsema, with the field at Hillsdale having some of the fastest runners in the country, the time did not earn her a trip to the 60m finals. Another Cougar freshman making her mark in the books in the 60m Hurdles is Ellie Reynolds. Her time of 9.68 seconds in the event tops her own record on the Cougars All-Time list and like Luurtsema, the field at Hillsdale didn't allow Reynolds a spot in the finals. Also at Hillsdale, senior, Danae Dracht qualified for the NAIA National Championship meet in the 5K clocking a time of 18:14.96. That time placed her third on SAU's All-Time list and fellow senior Kate Jones ran a season best and a NCCAA National Championship qualifying time of 19:42.97 in the same race. Jones now sits in ninth on the SAU All-Time list. Spring Arbor also made a little noise at the Indiana Wesleyan University Midwest Indoor as sophomore Andrea Finkbeiner jumped a distance of 17' 5 ¼" just missing the SAU School record by ¼ inch. Senior, Kelly Tripp also rand a season best 62.71 in the 400m which placed her tied for ninth on SAU's All-Time list.
