#4 Georgetown women have had a great season under 2nd year coach Michael Smith.  They did barely lose the Big East meet to Providence but they are still in the hunt for a NCAA trophy.  The Mid-Atlantic region is not as tough as the Big East meet as the top two other teams are in different regions.  With a strong overall season they would likely qualify for an at-large berth if they finished third. behind other ranked teams #22 Princeton and #24 West Virginia, and possibly even #30 Penn State.  #35 Villanova will need to use this opportunity to show their depth for the first time this season.  At the Big East meet the top three teams put their first five before the Wildcats could finish their #3 runner.

The Wildcats are led by 2012 Mid-Atlantic #3 finisher Emily Lipari and Mid-Atlantic Champion Nicky Akande.  Emily was the runner-up at the Big East championships and 7th at Pre-Nationals.  Akande has struggled since that win last year.  Georgetown senior Rachel Schneider and sophomore Samantha Nadel ran well at Big East championships with a 5-6 finish. Katie Clark of Butler was tenth at the pre-nationals meet.

#15 Princeton and #20 Villanova will battle for the men's title with it being unlikely an at-large team will make the NCAA meet.  Freshman Patrick Tiernan dominated the Big East meet for Villanova.  He will be challenged by his teammate Sam McEntee who finished second at this meet last year and fourth at the Big East meet and teammate Robert Dennault was sixth.
